North Penn High School will dismiss students early Thursday morning after a power failure affected the building’s B-Pod, which houses the school cafeteria, according to district officials.
Principal Kyle Hassler announced that the high school would dismiss at 11 a.m. Thursday due to the outage. The early dismissal applies only to the high school, while all other schools in the North Penn School District will continue operating on their normal schedules.
Ninth-grade students who attend classes at the high school will be transported back to their respective middle schools as part of the early dismissal plan.
Students participating in the Senior Class Trip to Disney will remain at the high school and depart as scheduled later in the day, the district said.
The schedule adjustment also affects students who attend the North Montco Technical Career Center. Students participating in the mid-session program will be dismissed early so they can return to North Penn High School for the 11 a.m. dismissal.
Students scheduled for the afternoon session at North Montco Technical Career Center who have their own transportation may still attend the program Thursday. However, students who rely on district bus transportation will be excused from attending.
District officials said all after-school and evening activities at North Penn High School will continue as scheduled despite the earlier dismissal.
