From signs to a life-size fiberglass Holstein cow, fans will have a chance to own a slice of Towamencin nostalgia
There is something uniquely bittersweet about a retirement auction.
Not just because items are being sold, but because what is really changing hands is memory.
On March 13, pieces of Freddy Hill Farms — the Towamencin institution that has served ice cream cones, mini-golf rounds and summer-night traditions since 1972 — will officially hit the online auction block through AuctionZip as part of the farm’s retirement sale.
The auction is run by Tim Weaver Auction Services. Auctioneers will be Weaver, Dave Stoltzfus, Steve Schuler, and Tristan Sensenig.
For more than five decades, the Seipt family’s farm and fun center on Sumneytown Pike became woven into the fabric of North Penn life. First dates. Post–Little League ice cream. Birthday parties. Mini-golf bragging rights.
Now, as the property’s future remains the subject of ongoing development discussions in Towamencin Township, the public will have an opportunity to claim a tangible piece of that history.
A cow, the signs and the stories
Among the most talked-about items expected to draw interest are iconic Freddy Hill signs — the kind that have greeted generations of families pulling into the lot — along with decorative pieces and memorabilia tied directly to the farm’s public-facing identity.
And yes, the life-size fiberglass Holstein cow is part of the mix.
When that gavel falls online, someone will quite literally be able to park a piece of Towamencin lore in their front yard.
The end of an era, one bid at a time
Freddy Hill’s announced retirement and closure marked the end of a 53-year run for the family-owned operation. The news prompted an outpouring of nostalgia across social media and at township meetings, where residents reflected on what the farm meant to the community.
The auction adds another emotional layer to that farewell.
The online auction is scheduled for March 13, giving would-be bidders just a little less than two weeks to scroll, reminisce and decide how much a memory is worth.
Freddy Hill Farms has hung up its scoops, but on March 13, its story will continue — one bid at a time.
