The road was closed for a prolonged period of time Sunday afternoon
Emergency crews responded Sunday afternoon to a serious crash in Upper Salford Township that required a vehicle rescue and left part of Shelly Road closed for an extended period.
At 1:09 p.m. March 1, Upper Salford Fire Co. and the Lower Frederick Fire Co. were dispatched to the 2600 block of Shelly Road for a reported vehicle accident.
Upon arrival, Upper Salford Fire upgraded the incident to a vehicle rescue, prompting additional assistance from Harleysville Community Fire Company.
Firefighters worked to safely extricate the patient from the vehicle before the individual was transported from the scene.
No further information on the patient’s condition was immediately available.
Authorities said two telephone poles were damaged in the crash, resulting in a prolonged road closure as utility crews addressed the damage.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area while repairs were underway.
