A Montgomery Township woman is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after police said she was impaired and speeding when her car left Route 202 and struck a man running on a nearby trail, causing devastating injuries.

Olivia Amelia Sauer, 22, of the 7000 block of Avenel Boulevard, was charged Jan. 16, 2026 with felony counts of aggravated assault, aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, and aggravated assault by vehicle, and several misdemeanor DUI offenses, along with related traffic violations, according to court records.

The charges stem from a Nov. 15, 2025 crash along Route 202 near County Line Road in Montgomery Township.

Police said officers were dispatched around 7:51 a.m. for a report of a single vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. Investigators determined Sauer was driving a 2014 Nissan Maxima northbound on Route 202 when she negotiated a curve, lost control, and the vehicle rotated before traveling off the roadway, across a grassy separation, and onto the Parkway Trail.

The rear driver side of the car struck a man who was running on the trail, according to the affidavit.

The victim, identified in court documents as a 53-year-old man, suffered severe injuries to both legs and was found semi-conscious. He was given blood by EMS at the scene and transported to St. Luke’s Grand View Hospital as a trauma patient.

Police said he suffered damage to his aortic valve and carotid artery, about 22 fractures in his left leg, a concussion, broken ribs, significant knee injuries, and severe trauma to his left foot.

While speaking with Sauer at the scene, an officer reported smelling alcohol on her breath. She told police she had three to four drinks the night before, according to the affidavit.

Field sobriety testing showed signs of impairment, and Sauer was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, authorities said. She consented to a blood draw, which later showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.111%. Toxicology results also indicated the presence of THC and related compounds, according to investigators.

A subsequent download of the vehicle’s event data recorder showed the car was traveling between 61 and 74 mph in the seconds before the crash on a road posted at 40 mph, police wrote. Investigators also noted the vehicle’s inspection and emissions stickers were expired.

Police alleged Sauer was operating the vehicle in a careless and reckless manner, at excessive speeds and while impaired, causing serious bodily injury to the pedestrian.

In addition to the felony assault charges and DUI counts, she was also cited for reckless driving, careless driving causing serious bodily injury, driving at an unsafe speed, and operating a vehicle without a valid inspection.

Responding to the scene of the November crash were units from VMSC Emergency Medical Services and the Fire Department of Montgomery Township, among other first responders.

Sauer was mailed a summons to appear for a preliminary hearing May 12 before Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy, according to court documents. She is represented by Trevose attorney Michael Parlow.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
