North Penn Water Authority is proud to announce that we have received a grant for a water infrastructure improvement project in Hatfield Township, Montgomery County, with the assistance of State Representative Steven Malagari and Senator Maria Collett.

NPWA applied for the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) PA Small Water and Sewer Program grant early last year, to aid in the Forest Avenue Water Main Replacement initiative in Hatfield Township.

The project aims to replace the existing 4-inch cast iron water line with a new 8-inch ductile iron pipe to improve service reliability and capacity.

The current water main is over 75 years old and has experienced several water main breaks in recent years. Replacing the main will ensure reliable and safe drinking water will be available to customers in Hatfield Township. Additionally, the project will provide increased water volume amount to aid in times of emergency, and all mainline and residential service lines with an unknown material will be modernized.

“North Penn Water Authority is extremely grateful to State Representative Steve Malagari and State Senator Maria Collett, for their work securing a $278,000 grant toward replacing the aging Forest Avenue water main, thus safeguarding reliable water service for our residents,” said NPWA Director of Asset Management and Strategic Initiatives, Dan Preston, P.E. “This vital funding underscores their commitment to the North Penn Community and strengthens NPWA's infrastructure and allows us to continue to deliver safe, dependable water service to the families and businesses we proudly serve.”

The Forest Avenue Water Main Replacement project is slated to begin later this year. The location will take place from Oak Park Road to Squirrel Lane located within the Hatfield Township. More details regarding the project will be available as we move closer to the start date.
