After one season, Kevin Patullo's time as the Eagles' offensive coordinator is over.

In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, Nick Sirianni announced that he has "decided to make a change at offensive coordinator."

Sirianni was complimentary of Patullo, noting his role in the team's success over the past five years, and ultimately took accountability for the team's shortcomings.

Notably, Sirianni didn't make any mention of dismissing Patullo from the organization in his statement. That suggests Sirianni is leaving the door open to the possibility of Patullo continuing on as a member of Sirianni's staff, just with a different designation and different duties.

Patullo was the Eagles' passing game coordinator from 2021 to 2024. His promotion to offensive coordinator in 2025 followed previous OC Kellen Moore's departure to become head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Patullo's short tenure was defined by inconsistency and frustration. In 2025, the Eagles offense took a major step back in almost every statistical category. The Birds led the NFL in three-and-outs due to predictable play calling and pedestrian scheme design. They often ran up against the play clock, and they never put together a complete game against a formidable opponent. That trend continued in Sunday's Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Stars like Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown were woefully, head-scratchingly underutilized in Patullo's scheme. Brown spoke up about his frustration numerous times throughout the season.

Patullo was extremely unpopular with Eagles fans, and "extremely" might even be an understatement. Fans rented out signs at the Sports Complex to call for his firing, and his house was notoriously egged following the Eagles' loss to the Bears in November.

The Eagles will now move on to their fifth offensive coordinator in five years. Hurts will have to master a new offensive scheme for the tenth time in 11 seasons, dating back to his time in college.

Perhaps an outside hire, rather than an internal promotion of someone who had never called plays in the NFL before, would be a better move this time around.
