A passerby discovered the wreck shortly before dawn Friday near West Point Pike
A motorcyclist was found dead early Friday morning after a single-vehicle crash in Worcester Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
State police said a passerby reported the crash at about 4:30 a.m. Friday after discovering a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and its operator near the intersection of Bethel Drive, Morris Road, and West Point Pike. The operator was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The identity of the deceased has not been released.
Based on a crash reconstruction, police said the motorcycle had been traveling southbound on West Point Pike when the operator lost control while crossing Morris Road. The motorcycle then left the roadway and struck a stand of trees along Bethel Drive. No witnesses to the collision were reported, police said.
Investigators noted the operator was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Bethel Drive was closed beginning at 4:40 a.m. while police conducted their investigation and was fully reopened by about 7:30 a.m. The incident remains under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.
