End of an era for District Attorney Office's 'Goodest Girl'

The name on the door of the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office isn’t the only thing changing with the new year.

The office’s yellow lab, Daisey, has retired from her public service to the county.

“Since she was just two years old, our sweet Daisey has been a dedicated member of our office family. Now, at nearly 9 years old, it’s time for her to trade in her work vest for a cozy bed at home,” outgoing Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn’s office posted to Facebook last week. 

Then-District Attorney Matt Weintraub brought Daisey into the office when she was 2 years old. Her role was to provide comfort to victims and witnesses during some of the most stressful moments.

When he left the district attorney job to become a judge, Weintraub told this news organization he was proud of the work the office and Daisey had done to help victims.

“While she still loves her job, her health is telling us it’s time for a slower pace. We’ve decided to honor her years of service by letting her retire to be a full-time stay-at-home dog with her beloved family,” the office posted. 

They added, “A massive thank you to Leane, Daisey’s handler and family, for your remarkable dedication to her career and her well-being. We are so glad Daisey will continue to be a part of the Halter family!”

“Thank you, Daisey, for being the ‘goodest girl’ we could have ever asked for. Enjoy your well-earned rest!”
