Police in Hilltown Township continue to investigate the killing of 89-year-old Anne Miller Turner, whose death last summer stunned the quiet Bucks County community.
Turner was found dead in the kitchen of her home on the 2500 block of Rickert Road on July 10, 2025, according to police. Authorities said she had been shot in both the chest and the back. A neighbor discovered her body around 7:30 p.m. after the two had planned to meet that evening.
Hilltown Township Police Chief Chris Engelhart told Action News 6abc investigators were still working through multiple possibilities, including whether Turner knew her attacker or whether someone entered the home without her knowledge. Homicides are rare in the township, Engelhart noted, making the case especially troubling for residents.
Turner, a lifelong community member, was remembered in her obituary as a devoted mother, grandmother and “second mom” to many.
Born in Abington, she later settled in Hilltown, where she raised her children and remained deeply involved in local volunteer work, including Meals on Wheels, the American Cancer Society, Grand View Hospital and Deep Run Presbyterian Church.
Family members said she treasured her home, her gardens and hosting loved ones, and was known for her warmth, generosity and homemade apple pie and chocolate cake. She was remembered as a “hostess” at Dembrosky's, and a receptionist at First Savings of Perkasie, and at Jet Upholstery, according to her obituary.
Police said a $20,000 reward remained in place for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information was asked to contact Hilltown Township Police at 215-453-6000 or Bucks County Detectives at 215-348-6354.
Investigators have not announced any suspects, and the case remains open.
She is survived by her children, James Hartshorne and his wife Linda Wells, of Marshfield, Vermont, Suzanne Hartshorne and her companion, Nancy Nase, of Hilltown, PA, and Scott Hartshorne and his wife Melissa Dillon, of Las Vegas, Nevada; a granddaughter, Erica Fowler and her husband Jeffrey St. John; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Kendall Anne Fowler.
