Flyers sign Christian Dvorak to a five-year extension

Christian Dvorak has unquestionably been one of the Flyers most important forwards this season.

Now he'll be a part of the organization for another five years. 

The Flyers inked Dvorak to a contract extension on Monday. The deal is for $25.75 million total. The average annual value, which represents the cap hit per season, is $5.15 million. However the amount he makes can be different each season.

"We're very happy to have Christian be a part of the Philadelphia Flyers for the foreseeable future," G.M. Danny Briere said in a statement. "He has played a pivotal role in our team's success this season and proven to be a reliable, two-way center that can be trusted in all situations. 

"More importantly, he plays a big role in our locker room and has fit in seamlessly to our group and what we are building."

The new deal includes a no trade clause in the first two years of the deal and a limited no-trade clause in the third and fourth years of the deal. The fifth and final year of the deal does not have a no trade clause.

Dvorak, who turns 30 next month, signed with the Flyers as a free agent over the summer. He signed a one-year, $5.4 million deal. 

Through 39 games, he has nine goals and 25 points. His point total is tied for third-most on the Flyers and he is on pace The centerman is on pace to surpass his career-high point of 38 points.
