Municipal parking lots on Main Street, Chestnut Street, Railroad Street and at the Community Pool are available for residents who need additional space
Souderton Mayor Dan Yocum has declared a snow emergency beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday, as another significant winter storm moves into the region.
Borough officials shared a series of reminders aimed at helping crews clear roads efficiently and safely during what has already been a snow-heavy winter.
Residents who live on designated snow emergency routes are prohibited from parking on the street. Borough leaders also encouraged all residents, regardless of location, to park off-street whenever possible to give plows room to operate.
Municipal parking lots on Main Street, Chestnut Street, Railroad Street and at the Community Pool are available for residents who need additional space.
Drivers are urged to stay home if possible during the storm. Those who must travel should use caution and maintain at least 300 feet of distance behind plow and salt trucks.
Property owners must clear snow and ice from sidewalks within 24 hours after the snowfall ends. Snow may not be shoveled or blown into the roadway, as doing so is illegal and creates hazards.
Officials also encouraged residents to “adopt a hydrant” by clearing snow around nearby fire hydrants to ensure quick access for emergency responders.
Additional safety reminders include:
Borough crews will be out plowing and salting as conditions allow. Officials asked residents for patience during cleanup and encouraged the community to support public works employees and first responders working through the storm.
“Please do your part by being a good neighbor,” the borough said.
