A Lansdale man accused of stabbing a 33-year-old man during a domestic dispute in December is now facing an attempted murder charge after a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.

Ivan Leonardo Lainez Cruz was held for Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, following a hearing before Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine, which included testimony from the victim.

The case stems from a Dec. 29, 2025 incident in which Lansdale Police responded around 7:55 p.m. to Shaw Avenue for a report of a stabbing victim. The 33-year-old male victim was transported by VMSC ambulance to Grand View Hospital for treatment of multiple wounds, including reported injuries to the neck.

Police later determined the alleged assault originated inside a residence in the 100 block of East Main Street, where authorities said a domestic dispute escalated into violence. The suspect was taken into custody that night.

Additional charges held against Lainez Cruz include aggravated assault with indifference, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor counts of simple assault and possessing an instrument of crime.

Lainez Cruz was preliminarily video arraigned Dec. 30, 2025 and has remained in Montgomery County jail on $250,000 cash bail since that time.

The preliminary hearing had been rescheduled three times from its original Jan. 7 date before being held Wednesday. A formal arraignment in county court is scheduled for March 25.

Lainez Cruz is represented by the Montgomery County Public Defender’s Office. The Montgomery County District Attorney was present at the preliminary hearing, per new protocol.

Anyone with additional information related to the incident is asked to contact Lansdale Police at 215-368-1801.
