An 81-year-old woman died Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross East Park Avenue in Sellersville Borough.
The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. near East Park Avenue and Hughes Avenue. Perkasie Borough Police, which is investigating the incident, said the woman was crossing Park Avenue just west of Hughes when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
The victim was transported by ChalBrit EMS to St. Luke’s Grandview Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Police did not release the name of the victim or her hometown.
Police said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Preliminary findings indicate that excessive speed was not a contributing factor in the crash.
Sellersville Fire Department, ChalBrit EMS and Sellersville Fire Police assisted at the scene. The roadway was closed for an extended period Thursday morning while emergency crews and investigators worked in the area.
The investigation remains ongoing.
