Not too many years ago, Brooke Golbeski was lacing up her cleats to take on the Knights in the SOL field hockey circuit, now the Central Bucks West grad and new assistant athletic director is North Penn’s athletic team’s newest addition.

Golbeski, who started on January sixth, brings recent collegiate playing experience and experience as a sports logistics manager to North Penn’s athletic department. She’ll play parts in event management, scheduling, and supporting day-to-day athletic operations.

Following her four years as a Buck in Doylestown, Golbeski attended Rider University and was a member of their Division I field hockey team, and started four games as a freshman in the Northeast Conference (NEC). Following some coaching changes, Golbeski saw less of the field in the following years, but completed her undergrad in sports management/management in leadership from Rider while being granted a redshirt year for her senior year.

“I still loved [Rider] no matter what, but I was ready, I wanted to play,” Golbeski said. “My senior year when I wasn’t playing, they brought in a girl from South Africa and she ended up starting her first day. I was like, ‘I just want to go and play my last year. I don’t care where it is.’ Del Vel worked out.”

Golbeski enrolled in Delaware Valley University to begin her graduate degree in business administration and management in 2025, and thanks to her redshirt year, was able to play one more year of collegiate field hockey. As an Aggie, Golbeski instantly became a key member of Del Val’s squad, compiling a 81.6% save rate in the net and being named All-MAC Freedom First Team.

“It was definitely very different, but it was great because I started every single game, and then I ended up being first team all conference, so that was really cool,” Golbeski said. “It’s definitely a step down in the sports world, but just to play and be able to do what I wanted to do was really great.”

Her role here as Assistant AD isn’t her only gig right now though, as Golbeski balances three other jobs while also working towards her masters. Most notably, her role as Logistics Manager for Jump Start Sports

“We do youth sports programs for ages three to eight and then summer camps for kids three to twelve. I do all the background stuff for that, the training, the coaches, scheduling the coaches, meeting with our township partners and figuring out what we’re going to run for each season,” Golbeski said. “In the summer, I’m more hands-on at the camps, making sure our summer camps are running smoothly for that.”

To help manage the load, Golbeski works on her masters in seven week intervals; she’s back on currently after taking her last semester off. On the weekends, she bartends at The Bucks Club, a job she’s had since 2018, and once a week she meets as the goalkeepers coach for Philly Field Hockey, where she oversees about twenty goalkeepers.

The move into North Penn wasn’t a difficult one, besides the sheer size of the school itself, as many of her new tasks share similarities with her other jobs.

“[North Penn]’s a lot bigger than CB West, school-wise and student-wise, so when I first walked in, I was like, ‘oh my God, this is huge.’ A lot of the scheduling stuff is similar. It’s not exactly the same, but it’s all about being detail oriented, so making sure everything’s correct,” Golbeski said. “I know, at first when I started at Jump Start, it was a huge transition, making sure I’ve had the right time, the right location because that’s what the coaches and athletes are going to listen to, they rely on that. I’ve gotten a lot better at that and I’ll just get better and better as I go.”

Having felt the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat just a mere year ago on the field hockey pitch, Golbeski has a unique perspective on that of student athletes.

“I think [experience] is really important in any athletic role. Just having that experience playing in a high school level, then going into the college level, I can bring my experience, especially because I’m right out of sports,” Golbeski said. “I think that’s really important because I can kind of understand on both levels, the administrative side and then also as a player, how the athletes are feeling. I think being an athlete in general; as much as it teaches you on the field, it teaches you so much off the field.”

With how much goes on in the gyms, fields, pools, and courts of North Penn High School, there’s a lot to look forward to, but of course one sport may stand out.

“[I’m excited to] get to know all the athletes and then I’m really excited for the field hockey season,” Golbeski admitted. “Just in general, I love working the games. I love being around sports, so everything.”

Now that she is the one overseeing goalkeepers and managing logistics, Golbeski finds herself drawing on the examples set by those who came before her.

“In the sports world, I would say all my coaches [were my role models], from high school to college,” Golbeski said. “You’re around them so much and they’re kind of the people that make your path. They really set up a good path for my sports life and then my actual life.”

Golbeski credits her father as her biggest advocate, whose presence at every game developed the dedication she now brings to the North Penn Athletic Department.

“My dad, he’s super field hockey obsessed,” Golbeski said. “He was at every single game. We would be going crazy places, we went to Chicago, Ohio, and he’d drive every single time for games. Both my parents, but especially him, having him so into it made me more motivated to succeed.”

Now instead of guarding the net, she is helping guard the experience of the Knights, making sure the path her coaches built for her is built for the next generation. Whether she’s managing a wild gameday schedule or supporting from the sidelines, Golbeski is ready to keep Knight Nation running smoothly.
