Authorities have charged Hatfield Village Apartments resident with more than 50 felonies in connection to January investigation
A Hatfield Township man is facing 57 felonies after investigators said he shared child sexual abuse material via a BitTorrent network over a three-day period.
Alex Dorolait Asuncion, 42, of Hatfield Village Apartments on Maple Avenue, was charged Feb. 4 by investigators with the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General with 56 counts of possessing or disseminating child sexual abuse material and one felony count of criminal use of a communications device, according to court documents.
Authorities reviewed recent downloads from a law enforcement BitTorrent file sharing program maintained by the Office of the Attorney General Eastern Regional division, which allows police to track single users of the BitTorrent network in possession of and sharing known child sexual abuse materials.
Police said, over a three-day period, between Jan. 2 and Jan. 5, 2026, their BitTorrent program made connection with a user network which shared 54 files consisting of CSAM, depicting videos or images of children as young as three years old engaged in prohibited sexual acts, restrained by handcuffs and ropes.
On Jan. 14, investigators searched the IP address of the user network, found it was registered to Verizon, subpoenaed Verizon for all subscriber information pertaining to the IP address, and discovered an address and phone number associated with Asuncion, according to the affidavit.
On Feb. 4, at 6:03 a.m., investigators from the state Office of Attorney General and Hatfield Police executed a search warrant on Asuncion’s apartment, encountering the defendant at the door, according to the complaint. Asuncion spoke to detectives inside the apartment and he was told the interview was being audio recorded.
He told police his internet provider is Verizon and admitted to viewing CSAM for about five years and recalls looking up “Loli,” investigators wrote in the complaint. Asuncion allegedly told detectives he has a curiosity and that his viewing of CSAM is reoccurring biweekly.
“He stated ‘he gravitates back to it, maybe from having too much time on his hands,’” investigators wrote in the affidavit.
Asuncion admitted to using a website “BTSTATE,” which is known as a site associated with CSAM, police said. He further allegedly admitted to using BitTorrent, specifically uTorrent, and used it as recently as the most recent weekend, but deleted its contents to view CSAM, with the youngest being five years old.
“He stated he deletes the material after viewing them stating ‘well it’s not something to have,’” investigators wrote in the complaint.
A forensics review of Asuncion’s computer located five CSAM files and the uTorrent program, police said. Two electronic devices were seized for further investigation due to the size of the devices, including a generic black tower PC and a Samsung Galaxy S24.
Asuncion is jailed in Montgomery County on $50,000 cash bail ahead of a Feb. 26 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine.
