Despite the new name and partnership, rink operators said core programs and day-to-day operations will remain the same
A longtime community skating destination has a new name and a new health-focused partnership.
Hatfield Ice has announced a collaboration with Jefferson Health that has rebranded the facility as Jefferson Health Arenas at Hatfield Ice while expanding on-site wellness offerings.
The rink, which opened in 2001, is home to youth hockey clubs, figure skaters and public skating programs. Under the new partnership, Jefferson Health plans to provide health screenings, educational materials and wellness programming aimed at promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles in the community.
“This rink is a place where kids build confidence, families connect and healthy habits begin,” said Brian Sweeney, regional president of Jefferson Health, in a statement. “By partnering with Hatfield Ice, we are extending our reach across our network to improve the health and well-being of our community.”
Jefferson noted that its regional presence, including numerous primary care practices and several hospitals within a short distance, positions the organization to connect recreational spaces with broader health services.
Hatfield Ice said a public grand opening event is planned for late March and is expected to include a ribbon cutting, player appearances and health and wellness activities.
Despite the new name and partnership, rink operators said core programs and day-to-day operations will remain the same.
Rink operations, hockey programs remain steady amid league changes
In a separate update, Hatfield Ice addressed questions from families about upcoming league changes involving one of its resident clubs.
Rink officials said the facility will remain under the same ownership that opened it in 2001, and that rink management and in-house programs will continue unchanged. The Ice Hawks youth program will remain in the Delaware Valley Hockey League and continue offering affordable, light travel hockey opportunities.
Hatfield Ice also confirmed it will continue hosting the LiveBarn video streaming service across all three rinks and its mini rink.
The facility said it looks forward to working with the Atlantic Hockey Federation as the Genesis Hockey Club transitions leagues, and to welcoming both new and familiar teams for future events.
Public skating and hockey offerings continue year-round
Hatfield Ice continues to offer a full slate of public sessions, including open skating, hockey and skills time.
Public skating sessions are regularly scheduled, along with themed “Cosmic Skate” nights. Public hockey and “Sticks & Pucks” sessions are also available for players with the required equipment. Officials remind guests that admissions are paid in person, skaters participate at their own risk and all participants must check in at the main rink office before taking the ice.
