A grassroots community group will host its first “Sunday Service” this weekend to help clear snow-blocked crosswalks in the Main Street Business District.
Organizers with Strong Towns Lansdale are encouraging volunteers to meet at Railroad Plaza at 11 a.m. Sunday. Participants are asked to bring a shovel or other snow-clearing tools and layer up for outdoor work.
“We plan on meeting up at 11 a.m. to work our way down the Main Street Business District clearing blocked crosswalks,” a Facebook post from the group states. “Layer up, bring a shovel, and let’s fix this issue together since no one else seems to be taking care of it.”
The action follows recent public engagement, where residents voiced concerns about winter sidewalk and crosswalk maintenance. The Sunday volunteer effort is intended to build on that “neighborhood action momentum,” according to the group’s message.
