A tenant at the Hatfield Motel on Bethlehem Pike is accused of assaulting a man at the property and calling him racial slurs in a late night altercation.
Robert George Blue, 66, of the 700 block of Bethlehem Pike, in the Colmar section of Hatfield, is charged with aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault and summary charges of harassment and disorderly conduct, according to court records.
On Tuesday, at 11:36 p.m., Hatfield Police responded to the report of a dispute between a couple and a man in a black robe, identified as Blue. Upon arrival, the caller told police that she was sitting in a car with her boyfriend outside the motel, when Blue approached them and asked for a lighter, police said.
The boyfriend gave Blue a lighter, and then Blue allegedly said, “Thank you, you dumb f-----g n----r” and threw the lighter back in the car, hitting the caller in the face. She then called police.
As police were speaking with the couple, another officer approached Blue, and he allegedly yelled at them and called them a “pig.” Blue then allegedly got up from a table he had been sitting at and began walking toward the motel, followed by an officer.
Then, Blue yelled, “F—k you, man!” then turned and faced the officer, pushed him, and then attempted to punch the officer with a closed fist, police said. Blue was taken to the ground and cuffed.
Blue remains jailed on $20,077 cash bail, which includes a probation detainer. A preliminary hearing is set for April 14 before Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
