Police said suspect from Chestnut Street in Hatfield Borough swung at officer and attempted to kick patrol car window
Major felony and misdemeanor charges lodged against a Hatfield Borough woman were moved on to the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas for further proceedings at a preliminary hearing Tuesday, accused of hitting a police officer in the face and resisting arrest in Hatfield Township.
Tymber Leigh McLaughlin, 27, of the 200 block of Chestnut Street, waived a felony aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer charge and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and assault onto court, but summary charges of public drunkenness, harassment and disorderly conduct were withdrawn at the preliminary hearing.
Officers were dispatched around 1:13 a.m. Feb. 21, 2026 to the area of Cowpath Road and Cindy Lane in the township for a report of two females possibly intoxicated and falling near the roadway, according to the affidavit. Police said that upon arrival, officers observed McLaughlin stumble into a grassy area after losing her balance.
According to police, while officers were speaking with the second individual, McLaughlin began yelling and swinging her hands at an officer. The complaint alleges she struck the officer in the chin with an open hand.
Police said McLaughlin refused repeated commands to place her hands behind her back and continued to resist as officers attempted to take her into custody. Additional officers responded to assist. Authorities alleged she tensed her arms, turned her body to avoid handcuffing and later attempted to pull away while being escorted to a patrol vehicle.
Once secured in the vehicle, police alleged McLaughlin attempted to kick out a rear patrol car window.
McLaughlin is free on $7,500 cash bail, per court records. Formal arraignment in county court is May 6.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
