A longtime air medical pilot based in the Lansdale area has reached a rare milestone in his career, completing his 3,000th patient transport while serving with the JeffSTAT program.

Mike Moore, lead pilot at the JeffSTAT 2 base at Jefferson Lansdale Hospital in Hatfield Township, achieved the milestone earlier this month during a routine flight to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, according to program officials.

Moore, who works in partnership with Air Methods, the rotor wing operator for JeffSTAT, is among a small number of pilots nationwide to reach that level of patient transports.

The JeffSTAT program provides critical care clinicians, while Air Methods supplies aircraft, pilots and mechanics to support operations across southeastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

“I approach each flight as if it were my own family member,” Moore said, emphasizing the mindset he has carried throughout his career.

Moore has been stationed at the Hatfield base since joining Air Methods nearly two decades ago, following more than 20 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps.

His aviation career spans more than 40 years and includes over 7,750 flight hours, with more than 2,850 hours in the EC135 helicopter used for medical transport.

Over the past two years, the Hatfield base has experienced record activity levels, logging some of the highest transport numbers in the program’s history.

During that time, Moore alone has transported more than 500 patients, reflecting both the increasing demand for air medical services and the critical role the base plays in the region.

Program leaders said Moore’s contributions extend beyond his flight record, citing his leadership and mentorship within the team. JeffSTAT officials described him as a key figure in shaping the program’s culture of safety and patient care.

Despite the individual milestone, Moore credited the broader team behind each mission, including mechanics, medical crews and hospital partners who ensure flights are conducted safely and efficiently.

JeffSTAT, part of Jefferson Health, operates a fleet of aircraft and ground units providing advanced life support and critical care transport throughout the tri-state region. In partnership with Air Methods, the program serves as a key resource for both emergency response and interfacility transfers.

Air Methods, a national provider of air medical services, supports about 100,000 patients each year and has more than 45 years of experience in the field.

JeffSTAT is marking 37 years of service in 2026, with more than two decades of dedicated helicopter operations, underscoring its longstanding role in delivering critical care transport across the region.
