North Penn School District is seeking a few good women and men to be honored with high school diplomas

After a four-year hiatus, the Board will again confer diplomas to U.S. veterans who left high school before graduating to serve in the Armed Forces.

The ceremony will be on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, and the deadline to register for participation is Oct. 10.

Veterans living in the North Penn School District region, or who lived in the North Penn district before leaving high school for the service, are eligible for the special graduation.

Veterans need not have attended North Penn High School to qualify.

Diplomas can also be conferred posthumously.

“This is one of the most meaningful things we do as a school district,” said North Penn School Board President Cathy McMurtrie. “Awarding these diplomas is about more than fulfilling a requirement, it’s about recognizing the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of our veterans who left school to serve their country.”

Veterans or family members of veterans interested in participating should contact the NPSD Office of School/Community Services at 215-853-1020 Oct. 10.

Veterans will need to arrange for a diploma and participation in the ceremony.

For verification purposes, copies of discharge papers will be requested for all of those participating.

“Our veterans made an incredible sacrifice by putting their education on hold to serve our country,” said Superintendent Dr. Todd M. Bauer. “These diplomas come with deep gratitude, heartfelt respect, and the hope that each veteran knows they will always have a place of honor here at North Penn.”
