A strong fuel oil odor has shut down the Montgomery Glen townhome community at Horsham and North Wales road in Montgomery Township Friday afternoon

Heavy fire activity from Fire Department of Montgomery Township and Colmar Fire Co. is in the neighborhood, as of 2 p.m.

Original Montgomery County emergency dispatch reports stated a caller reported a strong odor in the area at 1:53 p.m., which resulted in fire officials checking homes for a leak on Franklin Court, off Montgomery Glen Drive. Other callers reported dizziness and strong odors.

According to reports, the odor has been traced to McKean Court.

Fire officials are metering the area for gas and mitigating other risks.

There are no injuries and no reported threat to the public. Montgomery Glen entrances are blocked off at Horsham Road and at North Wales Road.

As of 2 p.m., emergency responders were treating the scene as a Hazmat response situation.

Montgomery Township Police and VMSC Emergency Medical Services are on scene.
