Students and local families dedicated their time, labor and creative plans over the summer to bring the community collaboration to completion
North Wales Elementary Home & School, along with representatives from the North Penn School District Educational Foundation, elementary students, borough residents, and families who dedicated their time, labor, and creative plans, crowded the borough elementary school playground blacktop Friday evening for a ribbon cutting to dedicate its new tile mosaic wall.
The ribbon cutting at the 201 Summit St. school celebrated the conclusion of a collaborative effort between the school and community.
Students participated in the design process during their art classes, learning how to make their own tiles and arrange them.
Staff and community members also had opportunities to participate and volunteer for the project.
Over the summer, parents behind the mural told The Reporter that planning began nearly three years ago as an initiative to upgrade playground equipment, landscaping and accessibility upgrades, with the mosaic mural filled with tiles decorated by students, staff and community members from across the district.
