Kirk, who brought young, conservative evangelical Christians into politics, was shot Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University during one of his many campus stops. The shooting raised fears about increasing political violence in a deeply polarized United States.

Tyler James Robinson, 22, was arrested Friday after turning himself in at the county sheriff’s office. Authorities in Utah were preparing to file capital murder charges against Robinson in the killing of Kirk, a dominant figure in conservative politics who became a confidant of President Donald Trump after founding Arizona-based Turning Point USA, one of the nation’s largest political organizations.

On Friday night, Kirk’s widow Erika spoke online in her first comments since the shooting. A memorial at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. was held Sunday night. Vice President JD Vance guest hosted an episode of ‘The Charlie Kirk Show’ on Monday afternoon, and a ‘Remembering Charlie Kirk’ celebration of his life has been scheduled for Sept. 21 in Arizona, according to Turning Point USA.
