Dodge Caravan struck four parked vehicles early Friday morning; no injuries reported

  • Public Safety

Lansdale Police are investigating a suspected DUI crash that damaged several vehicles early Friday morning on a congested block of Perkiomen Avenue.

According to police, officers were dispatched around 2:04 a.m. to the 400 block of Perkiomen Avenue, where a young female driver of a Dodge Caravan had struck four parked vehicles, with at least two sustaining severe damage.

Neighbors said they were startled awake by the impact, called 911, and kept the driver at the scene until officers arrived. Eyewitnesses further reported that the driver, identified as a nearby resident on Richardson Avenue, was given field sobriety tests and arrested at the scene.

The Caravan initially hit a red pickup truck head-on, forcing it onto the curb and into other vehicles, according to witnesses. The block, lined with twin homes, sidewalks, large street trees, and heavy on-street parking, allows no room for passing traffic.

The driver had been traveling from the direction of Broad Street and Susquehanna Avenue toward Cannon Avenue when the crash occurred.

Lansdale Police were the only responding unit.

No injuries were reported. The roadway was closed until about 3:32 a.m. while all vehicles were towed from the scene.

Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation and no charges have yet been filed. Police did not release the name or age of the suspect.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
