The initiative by the Montgomery County Democratic Committee looks to distribute food to those losing SNAP benefits in November
The Lansdale Democratic Committee is helping its neighbors who are losing SNAP benefits in November by inviting voters on Election Day to bring non-perishable food items to drop off at the polls.
Items will be distributed to local emergency food banks, such as Manna on Main Street, as part of the Montgomery County Democratic Committee’s overall initiative Operation Feeding Hope.
No perishable items – fresh fruit, vegetables and frozen meat and frozen foods – will be accepted at this time.
The drive will also accept over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and dietary supplements that are unopened and unexpired, as well as First Aid supplies.
In a statement, the Lansdale Democratic Committee said it is striving to provide healthier options; donors are asked to consider items with no or low salt, no sugar and whole grains.
No soda or candy or extra-large cans or packages.
