5-car wooden garage fire in Lansdale's West Ward extinguished quickly by firefighters late Wednesday night

A five-car detached wooden garage in the rear of a residential home on the 500 block of Columbia Avenue in Lansdale Borough’s West Ward caught fire late Wednesday night, with firefighters from six area fire companies working together to get the blaze extinguished quickly.

The fire was reported on the roof of the garage around 11:33 p.m. by a neighbor.

There were no injuries in the fire.

Fairmount Fire Co. of Lansdale was assisted at the scene by Upper Gwynedd Fire, Fire Department of Montgomery Township, North Penn Fire Co., Colmar Fire Co., and Hatfield Fire Co.

Columbia was closed between South Richardson and South Towamencin avenues, and the surrounding roadways were blocked off for a few hours during the fire

A cause of the fire is unknown Thursday morning.
