A small fire on the roof of El Limón Mexican Taquería in Lansdale prompted evacuations late Friday morning and brought a multi-company fire response to Madison Street, but the restaurant was able to reopen for full service by mid-afternoon, according to updates posted by the business.

Montgomery County dispatch logs indicate fire units were sent to 314 Madison St. at 11:33 a.m. for a report of a roof fire with occupants evacuating. Crews from Fairmount Fire Company of Lansdale, Colmar Fire Company, Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company, Upper Gwynedd Fire Company, Hatfield Fire Company, and VMSC Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene.

El Limón reported that the fire began during repair work on the roof and was quickly extinguished. The restaurant initially noted water and smoke issues inside, but emphasized that everyone was safe and that the kitchen was unaffected.

By early afternoon, the business resumed takeout and delivery, and by 2:25 p.m. announced that the dining room had reopened and operations were “business as usual.”

The restaurant thanked responding fire crews for their quick work and said it appreciated the community’s messages and support throughout the brief shutdown.
