Sentencing scheduled Wednesday for Montco man who sexually assaulted 4 children over 9 years

A Hatfield man residing alongside Oak Park Elementary School awaits a scheduled sentencing Wednesday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court after pleading guilty in August to four of 86 child sex crimes committed between 2013 and 2022 on four underage victims in Lower Providence, Pottstown, and Upper Merion Township.

Resul Mustafa Ozdemir, 26, of the 1000 block of Pinegrove Avenue, will be sentenced by Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Risa Vetri Ferman. 

All other charges were dismissed by prosecutors at his plea hearing, according to court records.

Ozdemir pleaded guilty to felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and three counts of indecent assault on a person less than 13 years old.

He faces up to 40 years in state prison on the involuntary deviate sexual intercourse charge and up to seven years on each indecent assault charge

He was initially charged with five felony counts each of the following offenses:

• Rape by forcible compulsion
• Rape via threat of forcible compulsion
• Rape of a child
• Involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by forcible compulsion
• Involuntary deviate sexual intercourse by threat of forcible compulsion
• Involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child

And four felony counts each of the following offenses:

• Aggravated indecent assault of a child
• Aggravated indecent assault without consent
• Aggravated indecent assault by forcible compulsion
• Aggravated indecent assault by threat of forcible compulsion

And two felony counts each of the following offenses:

• Corruption of minors
• Criminal use of a communications device

Ozdemir was also charged with six misdemeanor counts each of indecent assault by force and indecent assault with threat of force, and 12 felony counts of indecent assault of a person under 13, according to court records. Furthermore, 12 misdemeanor counts of indecent assault without consent and indecent assault of a person under 13, according to court documents. 

Lower Providence Township detectives said the assaults occurred between 2013 and 2022 on Chaise Lane in Lower Providence Township, at a residence in Pottstown, and at locations in Upper Merion Township, New Hanover Township, and Upper Providence Township.

When the rapes began, Ozdemir, a Methacton High School graduate, was 15 years old, police said.

Ozdemir has been jailed at Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $500,000 cash bail since November 2024. He is represented by Norristown public defender Eric Donato.
