The Lansdale Catholic High School community came together on for a successful fundraising event that raised $10,000 for the school's athletics programs through Mazda's Be Moved Drive Program, hosted by North Penn Mazda.
The one-day test drive event brought together parents, families, students, neighbors, and community supporters who completed 200 qualified test drives of Mazda vehicles. With Mazda donating $50 per test drive, the funds raised will directly benefit Lansdale Catholic's athletics programs, with additional incentives provided to school faculty.
The event came amid a big week for Lansdale Catholic’s athletics teams. On Tuesday, the Crusaders competed in the semifinal round of the girls’ PIAA volleyball playoffs, sweeping Delone Catholic 3-0 to advance to the state championship. The school’s football team, meanwhile, is set to take on Lakeland Senior High School Saturday in the first round of the PIAA playoffs at the Germantown Supersite in Philadelphia.
The cost of running high school athletics departments has become increasingly expensive, and the funds raised during Tuesday’s event will help pay for uniforms, equipment, travel and other expenses as the school’s 14 teams compete throughout the area and beyond. Several student athletes were on hand to participate in the Mazda test drive event.
“It’s good to see people care and support LC,” said Braeden Smith, a linebacker on Lansdale Catholic’s football team, who came out to participate in the test drive program. “LC is really growing, and it’s great to see everyone coming here to support us.”
The Be Moved Drive Program is part of Be Moved, Mazda's nationwide community engagement program that uplifts the communities it serves and celebrates those who are inspired to move others. Through the initiative, Mazda partners with local schools to host test drive fundraising events, donating up to $10,000 per event.
The program has already supported schools across the country, including locations in California, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Anyone in the community is welcome to attend Be Moved Drive Program events, with qualified test drives open to participants who are at least 18 years old and hold a valid U.S. driver's license.
