A small self-propelled plane reportedly crashed in a field on private property off Cowpath Road in Franconia Township Wednesday evening, sending the pilot to an area hospital for evaluation.

At 5:25 p.m., Montgomery County emergency dispatch reported the crash in the field at 761 Cowpath Road, near Yoder's Farm Market, near Green Hill Road.

The pilot was reported to be out of the plane near a small ravine, following the crash.

In a Facebook post Wednesday evening, VMSC crews located the pilot outside of the aircraft after they had climbed out of a nearby ravine. EMS personnel evaluated and treated the patient on scene. The patient was transported for further evaluation at St. Luke's/Grand View Hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

The scene was cleared within the hour, with responding agencies including Franconia Police, Telford Fire Co., Tylersport Fire Co., Perseverance Fire Co. of Souderton, and VMSC Emergency Medical Services, according to county dispatch notes.

Remnants of the plane remain in the field Wednesday night.

The last time a small plane crash occurred in the area was on June 17, 2023, when a small glider crashed into a tree on Green HIll Road, between Cowpath and Allentown roads.

The plane model, owner, pilot's name, and registration number were unknown Wednesday.
