With food insecurity on the rise across Montgomery County, a group of Lansdale neighbors has launched a new grassroots effort to support Manna on Main Street, the borough’s leading food pantry and community kitchen.
The “Feed Lansdale Together” Food Drive will run from November 15 through December 6, bringing together local residents, businesses, and organizations to collect food donations for Manna at locations throughout Lansdale.
The idea is simple: unite as a community to fill donation boxes across town, all at once, to help Manna on Main Street meet surging demand during the holiday season and beyond.
“I grew up in the North Penn area and have been a borough resident for over five years,” said Liz Fantini, one of the drive’s organizers. “Manna has been a staple in our community. When I saw that they’re now serving three times as many meals and twice as many grocery pickups compared to Spring 2022, I knew I had to do something. It just made sense to bring everyone together and help.”
Nikki Holbrook, owner of local design studio Flower Buds Creative, echoed that urgency:
“No one should go hungry. Manna has been such a fantastic resource for people in need, of all kinds, and I wanted to do something to shine a light on their work. Once we started talking about it, it was clear how many others wanted to help, too.”
The two residents founded the Feed Lansdale Together Facebook group to organize volunteers, coordinate donation box placements, and spread the word. Volunteers are already signing up to help distribute flyers, place boxes, and partner with local businesses willing to host collection points.
Participating businesses will compete in a friendly “Community Champion Challenge.” the location that collects the most donations will be named Lansdale’s 2025 Community Champion and receive a complimentary marketing and promotion package from Flower Buds Creative.
“Businesses can host a donation box and share the drive on social media,” said Fantini. “We’ll provide flyers and pickup coordination, all we are asking for is the business to supply a pickup location or box and promote to their customers. It’s an easy and visible way to show support.”
Discover Lansdale has already pledged its support, promoting the campaign and hosting a donation site during its Festival of Trees on December 5 and 6. Several other local businesses have expressed interest in joining the effort.
“This is exactly what community looks like — neighbors stepping up to help neighbors,” said Holbrook. “If every resident drops off just a few items, we can make a massive impact before the holidays.”
