The Lansdale Cannoneers are celebrating a double dose of victory this season, as two of the organization’s Pop Warner cheer teams have earned coveted spots at the National Cheer Competition in Charlotte, NC, while several football teams made deep playoff runs.

The Tiny Mite Cheer Team, made up of 24 energetic athletes ages five to seven, captured first place in both the BuxMont and Regional competitions. Their older counterparts, the Pee-Wee Cheer Team, composed of 24 girls ages nine to 12, took first place in BuxMont and an impressive second place in Regionals.

“These athletes have shown incredible dedication, practicing multiple times each week since summer,” said President Jim Laky. “Their teamwork and commitment truly reflect the Cannoneer spirit.”

The Varsity Cheer Team will also travel to Charlotte to compete in the Last Chance Qualifier, hoping to secure a final berth at Nationals.

To help cover travel, lodging, and competition expenses, the Cannoneers are seeking community support. A Designer Bag Bingo fundraiser will be held Saturday, Nov. 15, and local businesses or individuals interested in sponsorship can contact the organization at [email protected].

“Every donation — big or small — helps get our teams to the national stage to represent Lansdale with pride,” organizers said.

The Cannoneers’ football teams also delivered strong performances this postseason. Both 11U teams advanced to the playoffs, ultimately falling in the semifinals after hard-fought games.

The 8U team is now headed to the championship game in Quakertown after a thrilling 13–6 victory over Abington in the semifinals. The game will be held at Quakertown's Youth Field on Sunday at 10:00.

After trailing 6–0 at halftime, the Cannoneers rallied behind motivational words from their coaches. The team stormed back in the second half, scoring 13 points while holding the Raiders to just six.

“The players remembered who they were and what they came to do,” said the coaching staff. “Their effort and heart made all the difference.”

The Cannoneers will now look to cap off their season with a championship win, continuing a proud tradition of excellence in youth athletics.

This year the Cannoneers had six cheer teams, 11 football teams, and a challenger flag football team.

The Cannoneers mission is to promote good sportsmanship, build physical skills, and encourage mental development through healthy, organized competition and teamwork for four through 14-year-olds.

The program is open to all and does not restrict membership due to race, religion, gender, ability, or financial situation.
