Hatfield and Souderton police allege Cody Sebring conspired with known associates to steal more than $200,000 in tools, metals and collectibles from multiple businesses in early 2025
A Towamencin Township man with prior theft arrests has been charged again, this time accused of joining a coordinated string of commercial burglaries that police say stretched across Hatfield, Souderton and surrounding communities earlier this year.
According to a criminal complaint filed Oct. 25 by Hatfield and Souderton police, Cody Robert Sebring, 33, of the 1200 block of Reiff Road, faces multiple felony counts including three counts each of burglary, criminal trespass and theft, along with related conspiracy charges. He is also charged with four counts each of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to receive stolen property.
Investigators allege Sebring conspired with associates Evan Weron, Michael Spagnolo, Alexis Henrick, and Brianna Fisher in a series of overnight break-ins between January and May 2025 that targeted construction companies, a pool-supply business and the Alderfer Auction site in Hatfield Township.
Police allege extensive theft operation
Hatfield Township police first responded Jan. 31 to Quality Pool Care Inc. on North Penn Road, where employees reported holes cut in fencing and the theft of roughly $178,000 in brass, copper and power tools. Surveillance footage showed a dark Dodge Ram pickup with a front light bar leaving the area. Detectives later identified the same truck parked outside Weron’s Souderton residence and tied it to Sebring’s group.
Records from Modern Metals Recycling showed Sebring, Weron and Spagnolo recycling 381 pounds of brass and 93 pounds of copper the same day as the burglary, netting about $1,200, police said.
Another burglary was reported Feb. 12 at a Cowpath Road construction site, where thieves took more than $15,000 in tools, including Milwaukee, Makita and DeWalt power equipment and a Honda generator.
On May 10–11, Hatfield officers were again called to Riggs Distler & Company on Bethlehem Pike, where company trucks and sheds had been pried open and about $8,200 in tools and copper stolen. Surveillance footage and license-plate readers linked a blue Honda Fit driven by associate Ayomal Nanayakkara to the scene.
The following day, Alderfer Auction on Fairgrounds Road reported storage containers broken open and a 1978 Yamaha Enduro 250 motorcycle and several vintage longboard skateboards stolen. Video showed two suspects using bolt cutters to remove locks and walking the stolen motorcycle through a cut fence.
Search warrants and recovered property
Police executed a search warrant May 14 at Weron’s home on East Chestnut Street in Souderton, where they found the stolen skateboards, snowboard, lawnmower and other tools in plain view. Sebring’s Vans-brand sneakers were also recovered near the stolen property, according to the affidavit.
Sebring later told investigators the stolen Yamaha motorcycle had been moved to his father’s home on Reiff Road. A consent search located the motorcycle in a shed there.
Detectives reviewing Sebring’s cell phone found photos and a video showing the stolen motorcycle, a self-propelled EGO lawnmower and Stihl demolition saws. Police said internet searches on Sebring’s phone included “EZgo 21 self-propelled lawn mower” just hours after the Alderfer theft.
Investigators also cited cell-phone and witness statements placing Sebring’s co-defendants near the burglary scenes and said recovered items matched those stolen from Hatfield construction sites.
Sebring is jailed on $25,077 cash bail, which includes a probation/parole detainer, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 5 before Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine.
