The Montgomery Township Police Department is actively recruiting for the position of Entry-Level Police Officer.
The department, which consists of 37 full-time sworn officers and 14 civilian staff, covers about 10 square miles and serves a population of around 26,000 residents. Montgomery Township includes multiple shopping centers, business parks, a large residential community, and heavily traveled state routes, according to the application.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 21 years of age by the swear-in date, and possess a high school diploma or GED.
A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license is required. Act 120 certification is preferred, but not required.
Applicants currently in or who recently completed police academy training must pass the MPOETC ACT 120 certification test prior to appointment. A felony conviction or other disqualifying criminal activity will result in disqualification.
The department offers a starting salary of $78,187 for Act 120 certified probationary officers, with annual increases up to $146,973 by the fourth year.
Benefits include vacation, personal and holiday pay, sick leave, medical, dental, and eye care plans, life insurance, a pension plan, a 12-hour patrol shift schedule, and access to specialized units such as Detective, Highway Safety, Canine, Bike, Drone, DARE, and Community Policing.
Officers may also participate in county-wide specialty units including SWAT, Major Incident Response Team, and the Montgomery County Drug Task Force.
Educational incentives include an education bonus, tuition reimbursement (up to $6,000 annually), and specialized training opportunities. Uniform dry cleaning is covered by the department.

Registration Now Open for Junior Police Academy
Montgomery Township Police invites local youth to join the 2025 Junior Police Academy. This free program, open to children ages eight to 13, will be held on July 21 and July 22, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Montgomery Township Community & Recreation Center, 1030 Horsham Road in Montgomery Township (GPS: Montgomeryville).
The Junior Police Academy offers a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement, with activities including tours of emergency vehicles, a K9 demonstration, and exhibits from fire, EMS, JeffSTAT, Mounted Patrol, SWAT, and the Motorcycle Unit. Participants will enjoy games, lunch, and snacks both days. Children should bring a water bottle and wear sneakers.
T-shirts for the program will be available for pickup at the station, with email notifications sent when they are ready.
Space is limited, and registration closes June 2.
