Charges of aggravated assault of an officer and misdemeanor charges of simple assault and obstruction of justice were withdrawn against a 79-year-old Franconia Township at a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Stanley E. Supranowicz, of the 300 block of Morwood Road, Telford, will now head to non-traffic court to answer for a summary charge of disorderly conduct, according to court documents.

At 9:42 a.m. March 26, officers were dispatched to an accident at Morwood and Godshall roads in Franconia Township. Upon arrival, a car was found off the roadway and Souderton Police officers were standing with Supranowicz and an accident victim who was laying on the roadway, police said.

The victim had suffered severe injuries and was bleeding profusely from the head and face, police said.

An officer identified himself as a medic and police officer to Supranowicz and asked that he back up from the victim and the crash scene, so that the victim could be evaluated for injuries from the accident, police said.

Supranowicz allegedly refused to back away after numerous requests by police, as he was impeding medical personnel from treating the victim. Supranowicz said, “I don’t have f------ time for you” and that “the police do nothing about the stop sign.”

Officers attempted to pull Supranowicz away from the scene, but he pulled away from officers and shoved another officer, police said. Officers took Supranowicz to the ground in order to handcuff him, but he continued to resist, police said.

At 9:46 a.m., Supranowicz was finally taken into custody and turned over to Montgomery County Correctional Facility staff for arraignment, police said.

Supranowicz was represented by Norristown defense attorney Timothy Woodward.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
