MidAmerica Productions is proud to present an afternoon of extraordinary choral music this Memorial Day - Monday, May 26, at 1 p.m. - in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall. This performance will feature the Dock Mennonite Academy Touring Choir, Lansdale, PA (Michelle Yoder Sensenig, Director), and the renowned New England Symphonic Ensemble (Preston Hawes, Artistic Director). 

The choir will perform "Missa Festiva" by John Leavitt, conducted by Bradley D. Vogel, and "Three Memories" by Daniel McDavitt, conducted by the composer himself.

“We are thrilled to showcase the exceptional talent of the Dock Mennonite Academy Touring Choir on one of the world’s most prestigious stages,” said James E. Redcay III, chief executive officer of MidAmerica Productions. “The invitation extended to the ensemble is a testament to the outstanding musicianship and dedication of their singers. We are proud to welcome them to perform as part of our 42nd season at Carnegie Hall.”

The Dock Mennonite Academy Touring Choir will be joined by the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus, New London, CT (Daniel McDavitt, Director), Emmaus High School Chorale, Emmaus, PA (Julia Wallace, Director), Halstead High School Choir, Halstead, KS (Claire Clifford, Director) and St. Mary’s Dominican High School Choir, New Orleans, LA (Brenda Castillo, Director).

All participating musicians will spend five days and four nights in New York City in preparation for their concert. They will also spend nine to ten hours in rehearsal as well as touring New York City.

The concert program will also include:

  • Michael John Trotta’s “Light Shines in the Darkness” and the world premiere of “Five Psalms” will be conducted by Larry Bach, featuring the participating choruses: A Subtle Note, Woodbury, NJ (Cristin Introcaso, Director); Chrismon Chorale, Minneapolis, MN (Larry Bach, Director); North Central University and Alumni, Minneapolis, MN (Larry Bach, Director); and St. Andrew Canticle Choir, Eden Prairie, MN (Larry Bach, Director).

  • Michael John Trotta’s “Requiem,” conducted by the composer and featuring the participating choruses: Casady Choir, Oklahoma City, OK (Amy Knous, Director), Lenten Ecumenical Choir, State College, PA (Laurel Sanders, Director), The Adult Choir of St. Mary Magdalen Church, Wilmington, DE (David J. Ifkovits, Director), and The Shrewsbury Chorale, Shrewsbury, NJ (Fiona Smith Sutherland, Director)
