The North Penn School District (NPSD) has once again received an Aa1 Moody’s Bond rating.

The Aa1 rating reflects NPSD’s strong financial position and fiscal responsibility. A better rating from Moody’s results in lower interest rates for borrowings applied to capital projects, including the upcoming North Penn High School renovations. Institutions are ranked by Moody’s on a scale from Aaa to C, with Aaa being the highest and C the lowest.

NPSD has maintained an Aa1 rating for over seven years. This rating has been obtained by only 20 school districts out of a total of 500 districts in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

“This is a wonderful accomplishment for the district that puts our district in a good position moving forward with renovations to North Penn High School,” said Dr. Todd Bauer, Superintendent. “I would like to thank the Business department for their continued efforts in responsible fiscal management for this district and our entire community for their support of the school district.”

"The North Penn School District is dedicated to not only providing an excellent educational experience for all students, but also responsible fiscal management," said Cathy McMurtrie, NPSD Board of School Directors President. "By continuing to manage our resources efficiently, we can provide 21st century learning spaces to all students who walk through our doors."

Moody’s Ratings is a bond credit rating agency, providing international financial research on bonds issued by commercial and government agencies. Moody’s ranks the creditworthiness of borrowers using a ratings scale which measures the risk taken by investors.

NPSD is known throughout the state as an example of excellence when it comes to budget preparation and fiscal responsibility. In addition to the Moody’s rating, for the 10th year in a row, the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International awarded NPSD with its Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for excellence in budget presentation.  The MBA program promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation and enhances school business officials' skills in developing, analyzing and presenting a school system budget.
