A Lansdale man is accused of picking the lock to a locked occupied Quakertown apartment and then stealing a Mercedes-Benz key fob and is now charged with felony criminal trespassing.

Pharoah S Johnson, 30, of Lansdale, is also charged with misdemeanor theft by unlawful taking in the March 14 incident on West Broad Street.

Police were dispatched to the apartment for a reported break-in by the resident at 1:02 p.m., who said she was in the bedroom and her door was locked. Police said Johnson picked the lock with a credit card, entered the apartment and stole the key fob, valued at $250, off a counter. He then left the apartment, police said.

The resident told police the lock was still locked when Johnson allegedly left, so she knew he picked the lock, police said.

A Quakertown Police officer located Johnson driving a white 1997 Ford Mercury Sable and stopped the car on South Third Street, police said.

Police said Johnson admitted to entering the apartment without permission and taking the key fob, which was allegedly found on him.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
