The collision occurred at Bethlehem Pike and Knapp Road shortly after 10:30 a.m., causing a diesel fuel leak
A Cooper Electric Supply Co. large box truck and a white Ford SUV collided at the intersection of Bethlehem Pike/Route 309 and Knapp Road in Montgomery Township Wednesday morning, leaking about 90 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway, and closing the thoroughfare between Upper State and Stump roads.
The occupant of the SUV was rescued from the vehicle by emergency responders. Montgomery County emergency dispatch communication reported about the fuel leak.
While the crash investigation is currently ongoing, according to reports from the scene, it appeared the driver of the SUV attempted to turn left from Knapp Road onto Bethlehem Pike.
Montgomery Township Police were assisted at the scene of the 10:37 a.m. accident by Fire Department of Montgomery Township and Fire Police, Fairmount Fire Co. Police, Horsham Fire Police, Wissahickon Fire Co., La Mott Fire Co., Montgomery County HAZMAT Response Team, and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation officials.
