 On Monday Feb. 24, the New Britain Township Police promoted six officers at the Board of Supervisors meeting.

Officers Rich Michie, Mark Duncan, Michael Sandt and Ryan Lischke were promoted to sergeant.

Shawn Maguire and Paul Zielinski were promoted to corporal, police said.

Under the leadership of Chief Richard Clowser, the New Britain Township Police Department provides around-the-clock police service to the township’s more than 12,000 residents. 

The Police Department has 14 sworn personnel, including Clowser and one civilian clerk.

The department's patrol patrol area spans about 15.2 square miles, bounded by County Line Road to the south, Swamp Road to the north, Township Line and Upper Stump Road to the west, and Upper State Road and Ferry Road to the east, according to the township's website.

Furthermore, township police officers patrol about 81 miles of state and local roads, including parts of State Routes 202, 152, 309 and 313.

The department's mission statement is as follows:

“The New Britain Township Police Department is committed to working in partnership with all community members to identify community needs and deliver exceptional police services to improve the quality of life for all. We treat everyone with dignity, respect, and a safe atmosphere while recognizing our responsibility to maintain order, fairly enforce laws and protect individual rights.”
