A Lansdale man has been charged with his third DUI offense within two months by Lansdale Police for allegedly driving drunk in the West Ward.
Kevin Todd Morgan, 60, of the 700 block of Delaware Avenue, Lansdale, faces charges of felony DUI and summary reckless driving, stemming from a March 2 arrest, according to court records.
At 3:53 p.m. March 2, a caller reported a reckless driver in a black BMW in the area of Delaware and Mitchell avenues, swerving in and out of traffic, police said.
Upon arrival to the area of the intersection, police found a black BMW with California registration stopped on Delaware Avenue, west of Cannon Avenue, police said.
The driver identified as Morgan, was slumped over in the driver’s seat, police said.
Officers made contact with Morgan by knocking on the window. Morgan opened the door, and police saw the car was in reverse with Morgan’s foot on the brake, police said.
Morgan was told several times to place the car in park, but he was unable to do so, according to the complaint. Officers then put the car in park.
Police detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from within the car, police said. Two Four Loko cans were in plain view in the center console, with one open and partially consumed, according to the affidavit.
Morgan failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI, police said.
He was arrested and charged with DUI twice by Upper Gwynedd Police on Jan. 28 and Jan. 29, per the complaint.
Morgan is free on $5,000 cash bail, according to court records, and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 2 at 11 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Ed Levine.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
