Residents reminded to secure homes and valuables at 9 p.m. to prevent burglaries.

  • Public Safety

It’s 9 p.m. – Do you know where your valuables are?

Lansdale Police Department has issued an alert to residents regarding the nationwide social media campaign “The 9PM Routine.”

The campaign – written as #9pmroutine – is meant to promote safe practices and habits to reduce the number of preventable burglaries, police said.

In order to help reduce opportunities for thieves and robbers, police are asking to partner with them in making crime prevention a priority.

Residents should get into the habit of doing the following every night at 9:

  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle (including keys).
  • Lock and secure your vehicles.
  • Lock and secure your house, windows, sheds, and garages.
  • Secure or bring inside your tools, bikes, keys, and other valuables.
  • Turn on your outside lights.

Lansdale Police will be issuing daily reminders for the routine on its Facebook and Instagram throughout the month.

Police also remind residents to report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911.
