Local lawmakers meet and greet at community event
Hundreds of local residents turned out Saturday to welcome summer at the second annual Family Fest hosted by legislators.
On Saturday, June 21, state Sen. Maria Collett (D-12th) and state Rep. Steve Malagari (D-53rd) hosted their second annual Family Fest at Souderton Community Park.
“I was thrilled to kick off the summer season with another successful Family Fest,” Collett said.
“As school lets out, our goal is to meet families where they are and make sure they can access the diverse resources available to them – all in a fun, welcoming environment at the local park. It’s always a pleasure to collaborate with Malagari, Souderton Connects, and organizations from across the county to support neighbors from all walks of life.”
During Family Fest, over 200 attendees visited 40-plus vendors, including sports and arts organizations, the Indian Valley Public Library, social services, nonprofits, and state agencies.

Children and families also enjoyed free balloon art, face painting, henna, archery with the PA Game Commission, snacks from the North Penn Goodwill Services canteen, and more.
“The best thing about Family Fest is that it’s for everyone,” Rep. Malagari said.
“It’s a day for the community to come together to have some fun, enjoy each other’s company and learn about all the ways we can help each other. It’s a reminder of all the things that make this such a great place to live, work and play.”

This year’s event was generously supported by Souderton Connects, Jefferson Health, St. Luke’s University Health Network, Giant Food Stores, Main Street Pizza & Brewery, Water Tower Cinema, and Clemens Food Group.
