A North Wales Borough man is charged with felony counts of burglary and criminal trespassing, as well as misdemeanor theft and receiving stolen property, for allegedly breaking into an apartment on South Main Street to steal car keys, a pocketknife, toothpaste, a room key, and $15.

Nathan Jamal Langley, 29, of the 200 block of Highland Avenue, has a preliminary hearing scheduled Thursday to answer for the offenses that occurred at 3 a.m. June 16, according to an affidavit.

Police were called to an apartment on the 100 block of South Main Street near North Wales Pub for a reported burglary. The victim told police that a man wearing dark clothes entered his room and stole the above items from his nightstand, according to the complaint. The car keys belonged to a Chevrolet pickup truck and they had a plastic Bud Light bottle fob attached to them, police said.

While on scene, police reviewed surveillance footage from the apartment hallway, which allegedly showed Langley, who is known to police from previous encounters, walking up the rear stairs of the apartment and entering through a rear unlocked door.

Police said Langley went to the third floor and walked into the main hallway, where he opened the victim’s bedroom door at the bottom of the steps.

The nightstand, police said, was directly to the right of the bedroom door. Langley and the victim spoke to one another, and then he left the apartment, police said.

Then, while police officers were on location conducting the investigation, Langley allegedly returned to North Wales Pub and emptied out his pants pockets, which contained a set of keys, a debit card, photo ID, and loose change.

Police retrieved the victim, brought him to the pub, and he confirmed the keys were his property, according to the complaint. Langley was then taken into custody.

Langley remains jailed at Montgomery County jail on 10% of $5,000 cash bail. A preliminary hearing is Thursday at 1 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Suzan Leonard.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
