Bystanders, police, EMS perform lifesaving measures on struck bicyclist on Allentown Road Thursday night

Bystanders, Upper Gwynedd Township Police and VMSC Emergency Medical Services were performing lifesaving measures to a struck male biker at the intersection of Allentown Road and Green Street Thursday evening.

According to reports from the scene, numerous bystanders attempted to assist in saving the man’s life by performing CPR at the scene, until police arrived and took over lifesaving measures. VMSC personnel quickly treated the pedestrian on the ground, and CPR was active as of 6:15 p.m.

The patient is on a stretcher, in the back of a VMSC ambulance, with CPR continuing in the emergency vehicle, according to reports from the scene. The ambulance departed from the scene around 6:18 p.m. to an area hospital. 

According to Montgomery County emergency dispatch reports, the patient was unconscious, bleeding from the head and arm, and was about 40 years old. 

Upper Gwynedd Township Police was assisted by Upper Gwynedd Fire Co.

Allentown Road is closed near Green Street as of 6 p.m. Avoid the area. This story will be updated with further details.
