The call for the small roof fire came in shortly after a break in an afternoon thunderstorm

A reported lightning strike ignited the roof of a Towamencin Township two-story single-family home Thursday afternoon, which was under control quickly due to quick response from area first responders.

The call came in by a neighbor who reported to authorities at 2:39 p.m  that the roof was on fire at 1800 Red Oak Way in the Grist Mill neighborhood off Reinert and Tomlinson roads, near the intersection with Cardinal Way.

There was no one home and no vehicles in the driveway, according to reports.

The fire was under control by 2:45 p.m.

Towamencin Fire was assisted at the scene by Towamencin Police, Hatfield Vol. Fire Co., North Penn Vol. Fire Co. and Upper Salford Fire. 

According to Montgomery County property records, the current homeowner purchased the home in March 2022.
