Souderton man Evan Weron has 12 active criminal cases in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court
A Souderton man currently jailed on charges in a $19,000 copper and tool theft in Franconia Township -- and who has 12 active criminal cases in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court -- has now been charged again in a separate burglary at a construction site in Towamencin Township.
Evan Ramon Weron, 36, of the 400 block of East Chestnut Street, is accused of stealing multiple pieces of commercial construction equipment, copper tubing, and tools valued at several thousand dollars from a Wexcon Inc. job trailer on Fretz Road in late December 2023, according to an affidavit.
According to the criminal complaint, Towamencin Township Police were dispatched to 675 Fretz Road around 6:56 a.m. on Jan. 2, 2024, after a construction foreman discovered a trailer lock had been cut and numerous items stolen. Among the items taken were a Topcon pipe laser, two chainsaws, a generator, a trash pump, a blower, tapping motor, brass fittings, and over 200 feet of copper tubing.
Police said they later discovered that some of the missing items, including a chainsaw, generator, and blower, were sold without serial numbers to a Cheltenham pawn shop by a person identified as Weron.
In April 2025, state police informed Towamencin detectives that a pipe laser matching the stolen Topcon model had been recovered at a private residence in Montgomery County. The person in possession, who was not charged, allegedly told police Weron had given him the item to hold. Wexcon later confirmed the item belonged to them, with an original purchase price of $3,750.
Weron was officially charged last week with felony receiving stolen property. The Towamencin case adds to a growing stack of criminal cases Weron faces in Montgomery County — 12 active cases in total, according to court records.
Co-defendants in earlier copper theft case
Weron was previously charged in May by Franconia Township Police with multiple felonies, including theft, conspiracy, and trespassing, after he and co-defendant Cody Robert Sebring, 33, of Souderton, were allegedly caught on surveillance burglarizing Gouldey Welding on Allentown Road during the overnight hours of May 4 into May 5.
A third man, Ayomal Y. Nanayakkara, 43, of Norristown, is accused of serving as the getaway driver. Police said Nanayakkara later admitted to driving the pair to the site and helping load stolen goods into a blue Honda Fit before taking Weron to a Philadelphia scrap yard, where more than $1,700 worth of copper was sold.
All three men were arrested May 14 following a search of Weron’s residence. According to court documents, Weron’s preliminary hearing resulted in most conspiracy charges being withdrawn, but several other felony theft and receiving stolen property charges were held for court.
He remains at Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $50,000 cash bail.
Sebring, who was also out on bail in another copper theft case in Franconia at the time of his arrest, has since been charged in a separate rooftop copper theft in Souderton Borough, police said. He posted bail and is awaiting trial.
Weron is scheduled for multiple upcoming proceedings in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court, including a pre-trial conference in September for the Franconia case. He is represented by public defender Keira Rhoat.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
