Leslie C. Mills, of the 700 block of Willow Street, Lansdale is free on unsecured $20,000 bond ahead of formal arraignment in August
Felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault charges were held for Montgomery County Common Pleas Court at a preliminary hearing Tuesday for a Lansdale man accused of choking a victim in his car so severely that their choker chain had to be removed from their neck due to swelling.
Leslie C. Mills, 41, of the 700 block of Willow Street, is free on unsecured $20,000 bond ahead of formal arraignment in county court in August. All charges were held for court by Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy.
On June 7, 2025, at 11:22 p.m., Montgomery Township Police responded to the Lukoil at North Wales and Welsh roads in Lansdale Borough after the victim called 911 and reported an assault. Mills had fled the scene prior to police arrival, authorities allege.
Montgomery Township and Upper Gwynedd police departments met at the scene, according to an affidavit.
Police said the victim had a swollen neck with bruising and broken blood vessels and a six-inch wide contusion. The swelling was so severe that the victim’s choker chain had to be removed from their neck, police said.
The victim told police that Mills was driving a car home from a party in Philadelphia, westbound on Welsh Road near Montgomery Commons Shopping Center in Montgomery Township. The victim addressed something that was on Mills’ phone earlier in the night, at which time Mills became angry, police said.
Mills allegedly put his hands around the victim’s throat and the victim kicked him in defense. He allegedly squeezed the victim’s throat and then slammed them into the passenger door window twice.
When the vehicle stopped at North Wales Road, the victim exited the car and went to Lukoil to call 911 because the phone was in the car, police said. Mills then fled southbound on North Wales Road, police said.
Lansdale Police found Mills at his home, and Montgomery Township Police responded to Mills’ home, where he was found standing in the doorway, police allege. He was arrested and the victim was taken to Jefferson Lansdale Hospital for medical treatment, police said.
MIlls is represented by public defender Jennifer Buono, according to court documents.
