A Target employee has been charged with felony theft by unlawful taking after allegedly stealing nearly $4,000 worth of iPads from the Montgomery Township store over the course of two separate incidents last month.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Montgomery Township Police, Blessing K. Scott, 21, of the 10th block of Cowpath Road, Franconia Township, was identified by a loss prevention officer who reviewed internal surveillance footage and conducted an internal investigation, police said.
Scott, an employee at the store, is accused of concealing multiple Apple iPads in reusable bags under a register on two occasions — June 27 and June 29 — before leaving the store without rendering payment, according to the affidavit.
The total value of the stolen merchandise was listed at $3,996.
A criminal complaint was filed July 1 and summons issued to Scott on Wednesday. She was neither arraigned nor jailed in the incident, per the complaint.
A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 21 at 11:15 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Andrea Duffy. Scott is represented by Bensalem attorney Paul Mallis.
